The Hunter Story

Henry Lee Norris founded the North British Rubber Company in Edinburgh in 1856, using the then-revolutionary vulcanisation process to create durable rubber products. Wellington boots quickly became the most important category. Hunter was called upon by the War Office to produce boots for British troops in both World War One and World War Two — running factories around the clock to meet demand. The brand's signature Original Wellington Boot launched in 1956 and became a British institution: worn by farmers and estate workers, by the Royal Family at Sandringham, and eventually by a generation of festival-goers who made it one of the most culturally significant boots ever made.

Hunter for Men

The men's Hunter range is built around the Original Wellington Boot in its tall and short formats — available in the brand's signature green and a range of additional colourways. The Original Refined Chelsea Boot and Chelsea Gloss Boot offer more refined interpretations of the Hunter aesthetic, suitable for everyday wear beyond the field.
