The Dr. Martens Story

The story begins in post-war Germany, where Dr. Klaus Märtens developed a boot with an air-cushioned sole to ease recovery from a skiing injury. The design was acquired by the Griggs family in Northamptonshire in 1960, and the 1460 — the eight-eyelet boot that would define the brand — was born. More than six decades later, that same boot is still in production, still instantly recognisable, and still as culturally relevant as ever.

Boots are the foundation of the Dr. Martens range. Our collection includes the iconic 1460 in multiple leather variations — smooth, nubuck, vegan, and patterned — alongside the 2976 Chelsea boot in Quad and Hi styles, the Flora Chelsea boot in black and cherry red, the Anistone Harness and Knee High Biker boots for women, and the 1460 Rain boot in black PVC. Each carries the brand's signature yellow stitching, grooved sole, and distinctive silhouette.
